edit for date with month spelled in abbreviated format

Trying to test this: jj(8,mdy/)="05/01/12";da(12,mmm_yy)=jj
Msgbox "da"<da shows the result to be "da"
Also not sure of the "12" in definition of "da".
Could it be my version of 5.0?

Actually, I included my "solution" hidden in my original reply. (Although
it appears that some SMTP server along the way added an extra space after
the comma. I double-checked, and it's not in the copy in my "sent" folder,
but it's in the copy I received back from the mailing list.)
It took less than a minute to write (following the directions I included in
my reply, below). Give it a shot before giving up.
