Ryan,
This is a real problem. It has happened to me using Norton, McAfee,
Symantec. About the only one I haven't had a problem with was AES.
Anyway the solution is rather simple. I believe all of these have exclusion
lists for programs that are NOT to be checked. Just add *clerk, *report,
*runmenu, etc.(even p.exe or what ever batch file you are using). This has
clear up the problem for me in the past.
BTW this same preblem has also occurred on Excel and Word on occassion.
Hope this helps,
Rick Hane

Subject: filePro and anti-virus
Has anyone had trouble with a slow rreport on Windows (Win 7 in this case)
in which the culprit was found to be the anti-virus program? By slow I mean
1 minute plus versus 4 seconds. This is a mapped drive, mapped to a local
hard disk, but the mapping has already been eliminated as a culprit.
My client is sure it is the anti-virus but the customer's IT shop refuses to
even test the theory by shutting it down for a few minutes, so of course the
obvious step is finding a possible work-around. Most AV programs allow you
to add exceptions but neither of us has done this before with success. He
has even added the fp and filepro folder names.
The client's AV is AVG Internet Security 2012, the customer's will be known
later today, but what we can learn about AVG should be useful and hopefully
applicable to most other AV programs.
I'd like to tell them to ditch whatever they are using and install Microsoft
Security Essentials, but that's not gonna happen.
Thanks in advance and an early Happy 4th of July!
