I specifically chose to try an HTC Merge Android smartphone because it
has the slide out keyboard. I thought it might come in handy when I'm
camping or on-the-road. I guess I'll have to resort to using this as a
wi-fi hotspot for my laptop.
The print is tiny on ConnectBot. The credit card sized Fresnel lens I
usually carry in my wallet helps.
With the term type set to "xterm", I can even (partially) run filePro
5.0.14 on it when connected to an old SCO 5.0.7 test server.
If I try to adjust the screen size, I lose my connection.
In order to type a number or symbol, I have to press the "FN" key
first. For example, "1" is on the "q" key, so to type a "1", I press then
release the FN key and then press "Q". This works with most applications,
but ConnectBot passes the FN key through to the terminal emulator as a "/",
so on the screen I see "/q" instead of a "1".
I guess I'll have to give up until Bob Rasmussen finally gets around to
doing his Android version of Ansio. :<))
