OT - linux printing

It might make a difference what model of printer it is.

Frankly I'm a little suprised this works at all, with a USB-connected
printer. You need to understand that the printing mechanism is much
different printing from Linux vs. printing from Windows. When printing
from (most) Windows programs, the printer driver is used, and it sends
a series of commands to the printer. When you print from Linux, you're
just sending a stream of text to the printer, similar to in the old days
when in DOS you would do
   COPY filename LPT1
Bottom line: it may not work with this printer.

For a robust solution, check out our Print Wizard product. You could
install a "remote printer" into Linux, and run a Print Wizard LPD service
on Windows to emulate a printer, receive jobs, and properly format them to
the printer. Plain text will be auto-fit.
