Importing Data from Excel - Degree Symbol

We're both working way too late!

The degree symbol is hex B0 in Unicode and in Latin-1, and in Windows
codepage 1252. It's something else in DOS, also known as codepage 437 (I
think it's hex F8, but I'm lazy). When you read the file into Excel, do
you get a chance to indicate its encoding?
