Subject: Using IP address in printer definition
We are having some issues with network (Windows 2003) printers and filePro.
Printer defintion version 5.0.15D9. Note only filePro has the problem.
We have 10 printers on our system. Normally win: (printer name) work just
fine. However those using the virtual XP on a windows7 workstation stop
working at times. Still can't figure out why or what is causing this.
My question is simple. Can I define a printer using it's IP address. (IE.
win: 192.168.0.071)?
Thanks in advance

Rick,
The answer to that is NO. WIN:ipaddress will not work.
However you could try win:\\computerName\printerName
One other thing you might look at, in printer maintenance press p-printers
and see if there is an F6 option to list printers. If there is, this will
give you the printer(s) windows name.
Another option would be to share all of the printers with the server and use
these shares.
