segment link error

He would lose all of the system maintained fields if he 'posts' from the old to the new.  There are programs which would combine key and data into a key field.

Once you get this problem corrected, might I suggest that you create a duplicate file using only the key segment. Post from the old file to the new one. Rename the old one and rename the new one to the old file name. 

Reason not to do this would be if the file size of the combined would exceed the 2Gb file size if that is a problem with your OS.
