By including a slash in PFDSK, you are telling filePro to treat it as a list 
of UNC paths, rather than drive letters.  Therefore, with the above 
settings, filePro will look in:

     d:/appl/filepro
     /d/d:/appl/filepro

I don't know what Windows will do with that second path, but it may be 
related to the initial delays you are seeing.
