What he means is to set up an LDAP server -- even if it's not on a separate
box -- and let it be your user authentication facility... Linux/PAM will pick
the user data up into Linux as your users log in, though they won't be local
users on the box itself, and other things that want to do user auth can also
be pointed at the same server; this makes "he just got fired; lock him out"
*substantially* easier to accomplish, among other things.

It's an excellent suggestion, though LDAP is admittedly a bit opaque.
