You will get many replies (I know; I've seen them listed, though I haven't
read any yet); these are mine.

I'm not stunningly happy with Dell, but the specs aren't bad.

I'm certainly fond of RAID1, if you can afford the drives, yes.

And yes, /appl is my standard mount point, even on machines with no filePro
install. :-)

As long as there are no UID conflicts with the stock install, you can
actually just copy the user segment of the passwd file over, and set
new passwords; you'll have to do all the userdir stuff yourself, of
course. If your filepro users are like mine, they're just there for
authentication purposes; no actual files.

They support PS2 and port 9100 I think. Should be a walkon.

Almost certainly not, except for the possibility of command paths, and
the occasional issue of command switches, which aren't the shell's fault,
of course.

Shouldn't think so. Use Rsync; you can run the copies while the systems are
live, and then your last copy will be short and quick when you take the old
box offline.

Check eBay for LTO robots; LTO-2 is probably big enough for what you need
now. You want it all on one tape, and you want BackupEdge backing it up.

It will be fun to see everyone else's answers. :-)
