Fourgen's original late-80s bundle included programs that would strip and
recombine both screen and report layouts; if you can locate them, they
might still work.

I believe Jeff or someone else I've worked with reinvented that wheel at
some point in the last 20 years as well...

I might have had to do it myself with dd (of all things), but I'm not sure
I could lay my fingers on that code -- don't remember whom I did it for.
