Subject: Export Command
fp5.6.10D4/CentOS5.3
Perhaps someone can explain the odd behavior I have recently noticed in use of the "export" command. Despite the definitions and instructions in the help file and the filePro manual, I cannot use the command in the prescribed manner. While using "export word" I am not able to provide an alternative suffix such as ".xls" or ".doc", and it insists that the "fpmerge" directory be used to receive the output. If I try any other combination, a filePro error appears when checking the syntax. The syntax checker seems to require that only the output file name be given, with no quotation marks. If quotation marks are used for the file name, the file is created with the quotation marks as a part of the name with all of the obvious problems that entails when trying to use or modify the file. This has caused the use of work arounds in the menu script so that I can place and name the file as as needed.
The only things that are not a simple use of the command is that the applicable output processes and formats are in a script under a menu line, and that "pfdir" is used to point to a different filepro file (i.e., /home/appls/filepro rather than the default /home/appl/filepro). The menu script also moves the resulting output from fpmerge to the correct directory.
While I have been able to make this work, the expected filePro actions are significantly different than those I have used for many years in exporting data for use in another program. Any suggestions?

I can't speak to the non-windows version of filePro. However on 5.6.10 the following works without a problem:
9 ------- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
◄ If:
Then: export WORD com=c:\temp\company.csv
10 ------- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I am not sure why you are having a problem as you have not posted the line of code used.
