Last week I got a frantic call from a friend who happened to have just 
gotten his copy of BF3, and it would not install on his WindowsXP box. 
BF3 wants something stronger than DX9. While I did recommend an upgrade 
to Vista and then 7 (which I have done several times), do you know of 
any hacks to make BF3 run on an XP platform?

When I spoke last month to a pretty knowledgeable MS-XP support 
engineer, he did make it clear that they aren't kidding about shortening 
rather than lengthening the EOL date.

I still run a copy of  fpODBC on an XP box. I really should migrate it 
from hardware to a .vhd. In fact I just drug a key file from it to a 
FreeBSD box running filePro during the time I was composing this 
message, so I guess this post is kinda on topic :)
