Recommendations on laser printer for printing checks

I'm looking for a simple laser printer to print checks.  What I want is 
something that is easy to look to see which is the next check number.  I 
normally use Brother printers, but they load the paper facing down and 
pull the paper from the top.  That means the checks are coming out from 
highest to lowest.

I was using a cheapo Samsung because I could load the checks facing up, 
but it's now jamming or losing contact with the network.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
