I agree on your approach, Bill ;-)

But still, how about the idea of "erasing" the disk by just filling it up with meaningless files until there are 0 bytes left?
Could anyone recover old data that was there before? If so, then every bit on disk has more than 2 values: 0, 1 and something in between !?!?

...or am I just thinking too simple here?
