David,
Can not make it all out, but can you install on your older computers the
right drivers and connect the printer to the network location in the
printer setup?
I never use the \\station1\sta1 type of printer address if I can avoid it.
I have a network with a network attached printer called: Lexmark
I have windows 64 bit and windows xp machines. Get the drivers for
theprinter/OS you are using, install those drivers and then pick the
printer under the network stuff. Then each computer has the right
drivers and they point the the correct printer.
In filepro put WIN:Lexmark under destination.
That passes the job to your windows printer called Lexmark. From there
windows sends the print job to where ever you have specified that
printer is on your system.
Works great.
See if any of that helps. The logic you are using with the
\\servername\sharename is a pain with the new security issues on Win7.
I would only use it if the servername represents a print server not
another users computer.
