The article CNN did on this downturn said that the major botnets were -up-
yet, and that wasn't actually the reason--nobody actually knows what the
reason is. One theory is that spammers are regrouping for a newer round.
Personally, I'd trust the anti-spam site mailing lists more than CNN's
reporting, though. They reported on the flooding in Australia, and I
pointed my friend in Brisbane at the article, at which point he said that
of the ten photos in the slideshow for the article, only two were recent,
the rest were old, and one was at least five years old, and was a stock
photo available through Getty Images. Great journalism, there! :)
