Don't forget that of the "greenhouse gases" actually causing -any- sort
of warming effect, which is vastly overexaggerated as "global warming" or
"climate change" normally attributed to anthropogenically-caused CO2, the
-reality- is that 98% of it is normal, ordinary water vapour. And of the
CO2, as you say, a lot of it comes from natural sources. The one that
made me laugh the hardest in one book I read was the positioning of a CO2
monitoring station positioned just a mile or few downwind of an active
volcano. Brilliant!!! We won't even get into totally ignoring solar
activity or an actual multi-decade -cooling- trend...
Again, the primary greenhouse gas is water vapour. And of the remaining
2%, the actual amount of -anthropogenic- CO2 came to something under 1%
of that 2%, if I remember right. (I'd have to look that part up again.)
Oh,and that CFC ban? Regular sunlight actually breaks those compounds down
before it can do the damage people claim.
But you can't tax or "cap and trade" oceans, lakes, and rivers. Which
tells you what it's really about--money and economic control. Then the
people that love a good cause come out in droves and support bad science
that's been twisted to suit an agenda. The hockey-stick study was proven
to be an outright manipulation when the data -and- the software were
leaked, and yet it keeps being cited as a credible source.
I find the climate change and Earth Day concert events to be utterly
hilarious. I -know- how many semi trailers it takes to bring in the
lights, rigging, and other set pieces, not to mention musical gear for
each band. Then there are the plane and bus trips for both bands and all
the audience members. Let's not forget how much power those concerts
actually use (quite a bit...concert venues have special feeder boards for
stage lighting and PA systems...this isn't like plugging in a practise
amp/monitor and a lava lamp at home, folks). By the time they're done,
they've probably caused more "emissions" than any awareness they raise
will eliminate. Not that I care about the actual emissions, because it's
a realistic non-factor anyway if you look at the actual data. It's the
hypocrisy that drives me batty.
I have a sudden urge to drive an exhaust-spewing 5-mpg SUV around the city
on a joyride for a few hours, while smoking a pack of cigarettes. Just to
annoy the greenies. :)
Years back, there was a joke "Pave the Earth Foundation" online, which was
a really great idea. :)
