OT: I did it purposely...

Sorry, about posting your note to me, Bill. I knew it was to me privately,
but I wanted it to appear on the list to let people know there was action on
the auction already. I would have no way of knowing this would set JP off
about something contained in your note. Nothing in it looked private or like
something I shouldn't post, or re-post.
True, I did just leave the whole note there... Contrary to JP's lesson on
netiquette and quoting, in which he exacerbates the problem he is
declaiming. His purpose? Who knows. My apologies to him, also. (But I'm not
sure what I'm actually apologizing for, since the more stuff in this thread
about my printer, the better.) Although, I will take up on his
suggestion/idea/chiding/indictment/demonstration of how bad re-quoting is
when not needed. Even though he seems above adhering to his own codes and
preferences. But then he wouldn't be the great old kermudgeon-ey teacher we
love so much.
Thanks for the correction Mr. Chips. :-) In your case, computer chips at
least.
John
P.S. Incidentally, I will mention this here once again... For maybe the 3rd
time in as many decades. Anything written to me is mine to do with what I
please.... Whether sent privately, or on a public mailing list. If there is
something/anything specific or any reason why you want to keep any of it
private, kindly use one of the many conventions we all know and use. For
example: <private> or <off line> or "John, please don't post this on the
list, it's just for you.", etc. Bill knows this. Most everyone does. But
sometimes even the simplest things bear repeating.
Not, however, I agree, complete/whole "uninteresting" posts such as my
original post. So I do apologize for that. However, in one more teeny-weeny
little defense of my innocent action. My original note *did* and will
*still* carry in capitol letters a big ADV: at the beginning of the subject.
If you think you will find it uninteresting, you can simply DELETE it
without even looking at it. To my mind, and most everyone else's I would
think... ADV: implies OT: to the max! :-) Why go and read more than the
original posting if it was uninteresting to you, just to grouse about it?
and that, would certainly be a valid enough reason. I will trim my postings
from now forward.
