Subject: using pcl2pdf macro in AIX

This is in reference to an old IBM machine running AIX and filePro
4.5. Not exactly the latest and greatest but it seems to be working
ok. They've been running reports for years that have also worked fine
but recently asked me to send reports optionally to this pdf macro or
to the printer as in the past. I have tested the macro and it has
worked fine if I run it from a shell prompt.

# pcl2pdf file1 outputfile.pdf

My question is how best to intergrate this macro into filepro as a
printer option? Thanks in advance for your assistance.

I do it using Anziowin. When they print the report, in Sort/Select
processing I ask them "P"df or "S"ystem printer.

If they choose pdf, then I set "printer local".

The report then comes down the line to their pc where Anziowin grabs it and
coverts it to a .pdf and the .pdf is displayed. This is what my customers
wanted. They did not just want the file created as a .pdf on the Linux (in
your case AIX) server. They wanted it created and displayed on their pc.
>From that point they can do with it anything they like (print it, email it,
save it) etc.

Regards,

Scott
