How is MM defined?
If it is not MM(16,MEMO), that may be your problem.

Subject: Import and Memo.
Hi,
As you know from my previous posts I'm creating some import tables. Everything is working fine except for one field. This happens to be a memo field. I'm getting garbage instead of the text I'm expecting.
I'm doing something like this.
MM=imp(87)
Lookup to file1
File1(87)=MM
Does this need to be handled a different way because of the memo field?
