I don't support any of the systems my software runs on and I've never had any complaints about my changing of the printer names.
I don't know of any program other than filePro that uses the printer name to print.  Most, if not all, just print to the default printer.
And if re-naming the printer is a problem, you can just create another one and call it whatever you want.
