This is going to be a really stupid... Or rather naïve suggestion. But,
based on what Nancy (and you) say that resources aren't available, drives
aren't mapped, unless you're logged in... Etc., Why not try... For your
cron'd (scheduled) task, build an RDP login to the IP of that server (right
from that server itself) and map the drives you need, whatever, and then run
*another* task with all the things you need to do as the e4xecutable program
for that RDP session. You know, instead of taking them directly to a
filePro menu or the more usual stuff, just run the little script you really
want to run in the first place. Wouldn't you then be doing it as if you had
truly logged in with all that user's security and privileges?

By "build an RDP login", obviously, I mean used mstsc to build the Remote
Desktop login and fill in the username/password, resources and program to
execute....
