<< There's a word missing there. I'm assuming you want some sort of report
name or other variable to feed in to the PDF name. As far as I know, that
is not possible in FP.
There IS a capability in Print Wizard to have certain variables in the
file name, such as elements of the date. It's been a while since I looked
at that, but can do so if it would be useful.

Do you mean the file that converts printcodes to escape sequences (the
.PRT file)? If so:
1) We provide a "printwiz" printer definition with Print Wizard, in the
form of the file "printwiz.prt". This can be merged into your existing PRT
file, which then allows you to use "printwiz" as a printer type. (There's
also a printwzc, for color output.) Some people have tweaked this file to
meet their specific needs.
2) Because Printwiz can translate PCL-5 sequences, many people simply use
one of the HP printer definitions. Note that you have to configure Print
Wizard to do "translatePCL".
Hope that helps.

Hi Bob,
Yes, you are correct. My chubby fingers don't always type what my mind
says.
The question should have read... How do I set it so filePro will save the
pdf output as the format name instead of
"hotlist.pdf" so this can be used for other outputs?. In short, this
command works fine for my output named "hotlist" but if I want to use this
batch file to run 3 different formats and have their respective outputs
saved as their unique filepro format names. According to filePro's help
file pfpostprint is suppose to allow this.
As to the second question I chose some bad verbage. It is not the print
definition I need as I have that. It's what do other filePro users put
under the "File Destination" in Printer Maintenance for printwiz. (ie.
lpt:1, win: (foobar), etc.
Again, thanks for your help.
Rick Hane
Can't you use the printer file command to set the name of the file fp will
output to?
Regards,
Scott
