I have  the same setup running 5.0.15 on XP hosted by VMware's Fusion for the intel iMac and have no problem printing to my HP printers. I  did the normal setup  that I would use on a Windows system.  Don't let him go back to a Dell.  Windows runs better on VMware than it does on a stand alone box.
