lookup problem

I removed the Not sales from the browse to test the lookup using the record
number.
I added a long variable to the auto processing which does a lookup to the
sales journal to get the highest sales journal number and then read in some
key values in dummy fields to be displayed on screen 9 to get the record
number of the sales journal record found. These values are there in both
clerks.
I checked to see that this variable had the record # in input processing,
it did. Again, the lookup to the sales journal record based on the record #
fails with dclerk and completes with rclerk.
This only presents a problem to me as it makes it more difficult to debug
the program. Since my client only runs the tokenized version with rclerk,
this does not affect them.
I still would like to know why this is happening.
