I don't think "type" will report non-executable files regardless of
their location. It also isn't going to report a directory.
My own predilection is to an install an alias which I call 'gb' as a
mnemonic for 'grep backup'; it takes one argument to use as a pattern to
seek in the most recent BackupEDGE master listing.
