In the old blue 3.0 manual, on page 13-34, it shows how to use them.  
Basically you just refer to them by name on the "If" line - being 
careful not to use that name for other purposes in the table.  I've 
always avoided referencing them in processing knowing that, if someone 
modifies the easily-accessible selection set, you could find yourself on 
a hunt when output results change.   (And the change might not be 
immediately obvious.)
