I'm assuming that you want to run a Windows version of FPro on the 
client machine and keeping the files on a Samba server on the Unix box.  
I do this with our system at work on a Centos 4 server and it works 
quite well.  We use Samba to run the domain.  So a login at the computer 
will log you into the Samba share as well.  (I even had roaming profiles 
working once, but decided that the the load was too much and we didn't 
need it anyway since everyone pretty much stays on their own machine.)

My suggestion is to try first with an very open directory without any 
passwords and make sure that it works.  Once you have that you can start 
limiting access with passwords and the like.

If you can't access a simple, open share then you may have other issues 
on the network configuration that need may need to be addressed first.
