John,

Bet someone will write an app to translate the .hlp format to something else
, ie HTML or whatever.

Richard

How funny... What, didn't they pay their fair cap and trade fee on their
spot in the O/S? What's next .pdf. Who don't they own? Is that what it
comes down to?

Anyone who has even only glancingly read this list knows that I am a pretty
die-hard supporter of the Microsoft Windows GUI. I always or mostly always
defend MS. However, dropping support for the .hlp format/protocol? Well,
that doesn't seem like a sound or even just fair path to take. When I think
of the nearly year and a half I put in on converting/writing the filePro
manual for .hlp (and theby .html) mark up.... It is immensely bothersome.
If the amount of effort I put in represents anywhere close to the enormous
time and energy people and companies have put in to .hlp materials... This
decision... Circa Vista or circa Windows 7 or circa anytime ever.... It's
pretty horrendous. I can't imagine what their defense for doing this is?
Yes, yes, I know it must be money... But what about all the material out
there in .hlp format?

John
