My understanding is this:
These services act as a bridge between fax and email, potentially in both
directions.
1) If you were faxing to someone who had no fax machine, the service could
convert a fax to an email.
2) If you were emailing to someone who had no email, this service could
convert it to email.
Other uses:
3) If you needed to fax to fax machines in Spain, you could go
via the Internet as far as possible to avoid long distance charges.
4) If you needed to send faxes, but didn't have or want a fax modem and
phone line(s) in your office, you could email to the service.
