By "unlocking the file", I assume you mean removing the lockfile? This
comes up every once in a while here, so let me put my usual response here:
The lockfile has absolutely nothing to do with record locking. Nothing.
Nada. Zilch. Zip. Zero.
The only reason filePro would say that the record is being updated by
someone else is because the O/S told filePro that someone else has the
record locked.
Now, as to why rebooting wouldn't solve the problem...
Is the file on a network server? If so, rebooting the workstation wouldn't
have any effect, unless it was the workstation that had it locked.
If the file is local, and rebooting still tells you that the record is
locked, then perhaps something else you are running re-locked the record
before you tried updating it?
