There hasn't been Real Money(tm) in use much since 1913 when the
Fed was given a license to conterfeit, and the final nail was put
it the world economy's coffin in 1971(?) when Nixon dropped any
tie of the U.S. Dollar to gold.

Thomas Paine, author of ``Common Sense'' called for the death
penalty to anybody advocating paper money and legal tender laws.

The printing press dilutes the value of whatever currency is
being printed, eventually to zero. There has never been a fiat
paper money in history that did not eventually become worthless.

Paper is worth about $80/ton no matter how many zeros one prints
on it.

As for the NPV and interest calculations, I probably still have
my HP-97 program books which have the formulae for calculating
these. At one point I could program them into my HP-25 without
thinking about them, only slightly slower than finding the
magnetic card for the HP-97 and loading them.
