Subject: veiwing records in file
I am trying to view records in a file using dclerk with the option of using
using a index of there choice. this works ok but in the file i have marked a
field for retired records so that when veiwing they wont see these records.
they view the next record with hitting enter or arrow down i have a line in
automatic proc to check for this feild then a pushkey "[entr]" if this feild
is positive that will display next record. my problem is it displays the
next record on the screen for a second if its a retired record and if
several in a row it displays them all for a second and then finds a good
record and displays that just trying to get rid of the display of the
retired records even for a second. cant be by index need tehm to choose
index wehn entering the display.
Depending on the version of filepro you are running, you could create a
blank screen and in auto processing or @entsel, use switchto "blank" when
the retired field has a value and if @sn = "blank" and retired not set,
switchto "1" or whatever is your primary screen.
Although Jose's suggestion of archiving your retired records is a sound
solution and offers some control in accessing those records.
