You've not tried OneGate. I'll put it against fpcgi any day of any week.
Same rough principle, way better design and features, no known stability
issues, supported on more platforms.

Not much, considering the platform itself doesn't really lend itself
properly to server architecture, IMNSHO. It can be done, but it's like
getting a tooth extracted with a rusty soup spoon and without painkillers.
