Thanks for the reminder, although I generally build new machines with
unique primary interface IPs, then add additional IP addresses after
everything is working with the older ones for backwards compatibility.
Arp cache problems are pretty easy to deal with using most Linux
and Unix systems that I'm familiar with. The real problems I
have had were on some of the old Bay Networks routers which
seemed to cache things for an eternity.
None of our switches are smart enough to control this.
