OT: ubuntu install problem

When asked his whereabouts on Mon, May 19, 2008 at 12:35:23PM -0400,
GCC Consulting took the fifth, drank it, and then slurred:

Huh.  Yeah, that's hung alright.  I can't think of a situation where
-partitioning- should take more than a few seconds.  Making filesystems
will vary with device speed and size, but should only take a few minutes
tops.  Twelve hours is definitely out of the ballpark.

Does it say what it recognises the drive or controller as?  For that
matter, did you verify that the system in question is linux compatible
before starting?
