Several years ago on the Linux step-by-step mailing list, somebody (he goes
by dep) pointed out that the astronauts in the first shuttle explosion were
probably still alive when the crew capsule hit the water. Unfortunately
NASA assumes that there's now way anybody would survive an explosion, so
has no provisions for escape.
