Perchance JPR is using SCO OSR6 and you are using WindowsXP?
For the rest of the story the filePro connection is that the laptop I
won at the Orlando Users conference has been running Ubuntu for over a
year. In order to watch full episodes on NBC.com, I have to use a
Windows version of Firefox that I installed under WINE. That gets all
the plugins working and video is nice and smooth. For normal web
browsing, it does not work as good as the native Linux version, but for
multimedia stuff like watching TV shows full screen, its da bomb.
Tonight if I remember I'll see how blog talk radio acts with a native
linux environment and with a WINE environment.
Five years from now WINE will be so old school anyway. With Quad Core
Dells at Best Buy this weekend for I believe $749, all the cool kids
will be running some sort of Hypervisor like vmware or Server 2008, and
you'll just use the OS that is the best tool for the job at hand, rather
than committing all the resources of a computer to one OS.
We've got a dual quad core server and it's running Ubuntu 64 bit VMWare
and it's serving XP pro workstation, 2003 server, freeBSD, and 32bit
Ubuntu and you can't tell if its live or Memorex(tm).
