filePro and symbols

Thank you, Bob.
However, I need to place the smiley face or heart where the user chooses to
place it.  So I would have to give them a way to indicate that they want a
smiley at a certain location in the text, for example :-) or [sm], and then
replace that text with the smiley.  I'm not quite sure how to accomplish
that.

Yes. Those symbols are all Unicode characters. Browse through the code 
charts at unicode.org -- it's amazing what they have in there.

Route your output through Print Wizard, either as Unicode UTF-8 or as 
Print Wizard Markup Language, and you can print them, on any printer.

Or, many symbols have been assigned slots in certain symbol sets in PCL 
printers.
