fP environment variables oddity

Holy crap that's important to know about if true.
I wonder if I ever got bit by mysterious inexplicable behavior by not knowing that...
(That's not as dumb as it sounds. I get inexplicable behavior all the time, in everything from soup to nuts not just fp, and it's always far more practical to just figure out a work-around.)
The manual should be corrected 10 years ago so that it says the truth.

I'll try to duplicate later.

Amazing...
What's more amazing is no one else seems to be jumping up & down & screaming bloody murder or realize how crazy or how harmful it is to have a program reacting in subtle but important ways to variables that don't appear in any documentation...oh and btw it's been doing that silently for the last ?? years.
