Spam: Attention filePro Developers and Resellers

TOP Post:

They have a fully paid for and licensed version of the software. There was
only one file that had a creation password. As I said, the developer passed
away and they did not have this creation password.

I need to analyze this application and see what this particular file was
used for. It's data structure is the same as one of the primary files and
may have been used for testing. I have seen some code, commented out which
posts to this file.

Might I make a suggestion, that we as developers, keep a file of passwords,
to be given to our clients upon our "retirement" from programming. This
would avoid this type of problem.

I guess this is an appropriate time as any, to mention that for those
people that chose not to pay for there filePro code, I hope a creation
password from the developer causes them tremendous grief and hardship at
some point in time.

Hi Lauren:

I don't know if you still list Tom Londre from Waupaca, Wisconsin in

your sales database, but he passed away Tuesday evening. Tom did quite a bit

of filePro programming in the late 80's and early 90's in the central

Wisconsin area. I believe he converted most of his customers to another

database, although on Wednesday I did get a call from one of his previous

customers.

If we hear of any former filePro programmers passing away, I think the

rest of us should make it a point to keep you posted, so that you can update

your records and perhaps even send a letter out to their registered end-user

customers. (I presume you have links between us dealers and the end-user

customers that would make it easy for you to do that...)

Tom died suddenly, like a couple of other filePro programmers I have

heard about in the past year. He was younger than I am (57 years old). I

hope he didn't take all of his passwords and other critical info to the

grave with him, as some others have done this year.

Thanks,

Mike Schwartz
