docindex for current RHEL

which vs whence vs yet other similar commands is nit a linux/sco thing, it's
the shell, bash, vs ksh, vs other
if you were in bash on sco, you'd still have no "whence"
if your were in ksh on linux, you'd still have a "whence"
bash, ksh, zsh, and several others are all available on all platforms and
are actually used, so don't assume "well yeah, but bash isn't on sco..."
