Well, I didn't know that.  Did you ever report it to fpsupport?

Works just fine here, showing unknown edits as "*":

   1  -------   -   -   -
        . If:
        Then: xx(10,*)
   2  -------   -   -   -
        . If:
        Then: yy(10,mdyy/)
   3  -------   -   -   -
        . If:
        Then: zz(20,badedit)

F6/D shows:

  XX(10,*)
  YY(10,MDYY/)
  ZZ(20,*)

dcabe 5.6.06D9, 5.0.13D9, and 4.8.13D9
