However, I'm not sure what the actual copyright on the material is.
Typically, any time you write something you automatically get implicit
copyright. However, it depends if the list is considered public domain or
not. If it is, then it should all be unencumbered. If it's not, it'd
probably be some mash-up joint copyright between Bill Campbell and the
original author of each message. Or each person may still hold exclusive
implicit copyright. IANAL, and that stuff gets very confusing.
The person you really want to talk to is Bill Campbell. He'd probably know
the most about the actual situation, since he runs the service and would
dictate any terms that exist that don't automatically fall into one law or
another.
