We have released Anzio 16! Whoop, whoop! Key new features tend to center
around image handling, faxing, and emailing.

Now, for you old-timers, a little historical perspective. I started
working on what would become Anzio back when dumb terminals cost over
$2000, a Heathkit was cheaper than that, and home computers didn't have
hard drives. IBM hadn't made the PC yet. Communication was by modem or
direct serial. Laser printers hadn't arrived yet, nor had networks or
Windows. In fact, CPM-86 and MS/DOS were fighting it out. The year was
1982.

The first version ran on a Heathkit with 64k of memory, written in BASIC
with some hand-written machine code for serial I/O.

I was doing COBOL consulting work with NCR customers, and I sold Anzio to
them for several years. If you recall, Heathkit was bought by Zenith.
ANZIO was for An NCR Zenith Input Output program. The first copy in a site
cost $450, including some host-side modules. Additional copies were $200.

When the Internet was a rising star I was selling Anzio (for DOS) and
AnzioWin for $150 each. I released Anzio Lite, with reduced functionality,
for $25, announced it on the Internet, and hoped it wouldn't take away
from my primary sales.

About five months later I got a chance to catch my breath, analyze my
sales, and realized my revenue was going up 20% a month. Thank heavens
THAT didn't continue :-)

So here's to a product that can last 25 years, and reach version 16. Even
if it seems to be named for a bloody Italian battle in World War II.
