Lookup across drives

Agreed, but in Rich's example the PFDIRs are identical (c:\filepro and
m:\filepro).
If they were different, changing PFDSK would not work.

I don't think that is correct. PFDSK can not be set in a way that will let
you do lookups across differeing PFDIRS.
