I appreciate the response, and I certainly understand your position. But I
think you are missing a subtle point that is important now and going
forward.
Some vendors will strengthen the filePro market by directly promoting it,
as you describe. But other vendors will strengthen it by augmenting it,
surrounding it with a constellation of tools, related services, add-ons,
training, documentation, etc. To the degree that your company can
encourage and support this constellation, it makes filePro a more viable
programming environment.
Put another way, and closer to home for me, it is very unlikely that
somebody coming to me looking for a terminal emulator is going to learn
about filePro from me and start using it. But somebody looking into
filePro and learning that there is a robust terminal emulator available
that works well with filePro is more likely to begin using filePro. The
same is true of many other current and potential vendors.
