Back in Wisconsin when I was a kid, they spent a lot of time teaching us about 
the last ice age, probably because all around the area you can see remnants of 
it where we lived. 25k years ago that area was under (I can't remember) hundred 
feet of ice.

Always makes me think, "What if we were placed 25,000 years earlier, would the 
melting ice cap cause panic? What about all the people who live on the ice, and 
depend upon the ice for life? How can you live on dirt? Dirt is well... dirty. 
Ice is pure. We must think of a way to refreeze the ice covering. Yes. Now. 
Because we as humans hate change."

They also taught us that several times the state was covered with ice, but I 
seem to remember that each time it was less than the time before. So either it 
is going to happen again, or it won't. The result is something that has been in 
play for tens of thousands of years.
