Ha - you forgot @PW also on your list.  It was a small oversight I am sure.

I have used the parse method to make a report that could run manual and 
a report that could run in a cron job.  If I see values in the @p* 
variables then I just fill the selection questions and keep going. 
Same report - works in both environments.
